Join us as we welcome American fiction writers Josh Denslow and Ethan Rutherford (both living in Barcelona!) to celebrate the release of their most recent books with a reading, discussion, and live musical accompaniment.
Subverting the all-too-real emotions of romantic relationships with humor and iconoclastic takes on classic fantastical beings, Josh Denslow's "Magic Can't Save Us" makes us rethink the choices we have made in order to ask a harrowingly human question: Just what does it take to redeem a relationship?
Ethan Rutherford's "North Sun, or the Voyage of the Whaleship Esther" (Finalist, National Book Awards 2025 for Fiction) is an allegory of extraction and a tale of adventure and endurance during the waning days of the American whaling industry.
