About the event
South London-based writer Fauzia Musa will discuss her debut novel The Strangling Fig, described as an "epic in its sweep and haunting in its intimacy" by actor Riz Ahmed. Fauzia's work has been featured in The New York Times, The Times, Monocle, The Independent, and Riposte. Born in Mumbai and raised between London and California, she writes about religion, culture, migration, and motherhood in the modern age. She is currently a PhD candidate in creative nonfiction at King's College London.
Fauzia will be in conversation with Sejal Parekh, a British-Indian multi-disciplinary artist and co-founder of Melam Collective, a Barcelona-based cultural collective that celebrates South Asian and diasporic creativity. Sejal's work has been presented at MACBA, Museu Tàpies, Somerset House, The Winchester Gallery and Loop amongst others. Melam Collective will be bringing Fauzia to Barcelona for one night only.
