Join us for a thought-provoking conversation on the evolution of Human Rights, from the 1948 United Nations Declaration to the modern-day battles against genocide, ecocide, and systemic oppression. Julie Wark and Judit Carrera will discuss how the principles enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights continue to resonate—or falter—amid ongoing crises such as the West Papua genocide and environmental destruction, with a focus on the rights of Indigenous peoples. This timely talk, coinciding with the anniversary of the UDHR's adoption, will explore how we can renew our commitment to these ideals every day—not just on Human Rights Day.


The discussion will delve into Wark's critical perspective, drawing from her book A Human Rights Manifesto, which critiques neoliberal capitalism’s role in perpetuating human rights violations.
