About the event
What are some of the issues involved in translating a young adult novel from Spanish into English? Carmen Martín Gaite’s reimagining of a well-known folk tale, Red Riding Hood in Manhattan, has charmed readers in Spain for 35 years and become a classic. Writer Brent Sverdloff will take you through the backstory of this novel and discuss his translation process.
This is an interactive workshop, so come prepared to try your hand at crafting your own translation of selected passages—whether you know Spanish, English, or both languages.
