In this pop-up book club, we’ll look at three novels that explore life as a migrant, or a child of migrants, in the United States. We’ll look at themes of home, belonging, identity and language from three female authors whose families came from very different parts of the world – but whose experience as migrants in the U.S. was surprisingly similar.

Dtaes and titles:

March 30th - The House on Mango Street by Sandra Cisneros

Where do we belong as migrants? What is home? In this short, vignette-style novel, we’ll explore the concept of the house as an analogy for a safe place where we truly feel we belong.

May 18th - Americanah by Chimamanda Adichie Ngozi
